We went for a hike in the Vienna Woods today. We get out there every now and then, not quite as much as we’d prefer, but one thing we hadn’t managed until today was to get to Habsburgwarte when it is actually open, i.e. during the summer months on Saturday afternoon or Sunday late morning until late afternoon. It is a tower on Hermannskogel, the highest elevation in Vienna, located along the way of city hiking route number 2, and it is so worth a visit. For one Euro admission you get a breathtaking view. The second photo is looking south with the rolling hills and the forest in the foreground, and the mountains almost invisible in the distance. The view is probably better in the fall, when the air is clear and crisp.
