This is my favorite church in Vienna. It’s located in the 23rd district, on the outskirts of the city. It was built based on the design of the preeminent Austrian sculptor Fritz Wotruba in the mid-1970s after a more than decade-long controversy.
Vienna is dominated by really old and pretty buildings, which is fine. I am a historian, I like old. But I also think that each era and architectural period should be allowed to leave its mark on the city to make it real and less museum-like.
